What’s Hot? What’s Not?
From food & beverages, to film to frolicking about–2022 is looking to be an interesting year. Here’s what’s trending in the 365 days to come.
The Hot
Food: Fermentation

Fermented foods are defined as foods or beverages produced through controlled microbial growth, and the conversion of food components through enzymatic action.
Mmm. Yummy.
The better news is, fermented foods like kombucha and sauerkraut are not only delicious; they support healthy bacteria in your gut.
According to 360 ResearchReports, Fermented Food and Ingredients are an important part of the modern lifestyle. The market is going to experience rapid growth with the increasing need for healthy and convenient foods, as well as a need to relieve the growing gastrointestinal diseases.
So if you’d like to add fermented food to your meal plan, you can buy them from almost any grocery store–or, if you’re a DIY kinda guy or gal, you can ferment on your own at home.
Film: Rom-Com Revival

Romantic comedies thrived in the 1990s. Movies like When Harry Met Sally (1989), There’s Something About Mary (1998), Notting Hill (1999) found success both in the box offices and in our hearts.
However, possibly due to advancements in technology within the film industry in the early 2000s with movies like Avatar and The Matrix, along with a more fantasy approach to the film genre, the rom-com was shelved as the entertainment industry and audiences’ desires shifted.
Who said love is dead!
But now, in 2022, the rom-com seems to be making a comeback. How?
It’s difficult to pin down exactly where this [rom-com revival] began, but a strong argument can be made for the arrival of The Kissing Booth in 2018.

The Not (so hot)
Omicron. The first confirmed U.S. case of Omicron was identified on December 1, 2021. Earlier this month White House officials said the coming weeks are going to be challenging.
We’re going to see cases continue to rise because Omicron is a very transmissible variant.

The experts still aren’t sure how easily Omicron spreads, the severity of illness it causes, or how well available vaccines and medications work against it. So, until more is known, it’s best to take measures to protect yourself and others.
