Close your eyes and picture this.
A community nestled in the sands, mountains, springs, and valleys of the Palm Desert. Being surrounded by diverse flora and fauna, there is a mix of estates, condos and single-family homes that offer a vibrant contrast to the desolate desert that surrounds it.
Not only does this vision offer up such enviable living but it also presents a touch of exclusivity that will include a hotel, shopping, dining and endless entertainments that will be complemented by turquoise lagoons as the Santa Ana mountains loom on the horizon.
Can you picture this oasis? Now imagine it with all the wide-eyed magic of Disney.
This development called Cotino is just one of many that will be created by the infamous Walt Disney co. Dubbed as a creative retreat, the community is built for all ages and includes a neighborhood just for those aged 55 and up.
According to the website, the plan is to “Inspire residents to foster new friendships, pursue their interests, and write the next exciting chapter in their lives while enjoying the attention to detail, unique amenities, and special touches that are Disney hallmarks.”
This is not Disney’s first venture into real estate, however. Back in the 1990s, Disney partnered up with top architects and developers to create the town called Celebration, Florida. But, In 2004, Disney sold the downtown of utopian Celebration, Florida, to a private equity firm. Residents say it took their money and let the city rot around them.
It’s an interesting concept and sounds idyllic to have a tight-knit community and explore your creativity without the pressures of everyday life. Disney plans on opening these developments across America so this could be coming to a town near you.
So now a question for you: Is this somewhere you could live or would want to retire?
